Short Bio
Mary Valente is a contemporary painter in Sausalito, California. She attended the Academy of Art-San Francisco and later, UC Berkeley Art Extension program. She continues to evolve and hone techniques through experimentation and skills development. Her work has been featured in galleries, museums, fine art festivals, restaurants and retail venues. Mary occasionally teaches art at the local college and in her studio.
Statement
Using paint allows me to express ideas and emotions in a non-verbal, more universal way. I toggle between oil or acrylic paint; in addition I often incorporate pigment sticks, hard pastels, cold wax. I try to keep my work fresh by experimenting with new subjects and materials.
